Simon Cooper - Director

When I was very young an older cousin of mine started fooling around with an 8mm camera.
The camera was capable of frame-by-frame exposures and so I began helping him make an animated horror flick, of all things. Stop-motion vampires were my first experience of filmmaking.

Fast-forward to college and I wanted to become an actor. I had some success with parts in small touring shows, and a couple of years with shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe; both acting and producing.

But the actor's life was not for me and I was lured away to work in graphic design, multimedia and ultimately the video games industry. I gave up drama for over ten years.

Those years were not wasted, as I spent them learning to animate and become a computer games artist. I worked as senior, technical and lead artist for two London-based games developers notching up several published titles to my name.

I left the games industry for several reasons, but chiefly because I missed the buzz of drama and desperately wanted to write and direct films.
