Festivals

Look out for Whole Hog films playing at festivals all over the world. One of the great thrills of filmmaking is being able to reach audiences not just at home but internationally.

Here are some links to sites concerned with festivals and applications.

FilmFestivals.com - A comprehensive list of worldwide fests and their links.

WithoutaBox.com - Premiere paperless application site for predominantly North American festivals. These guys do include festivals from all over the world but the USA is king here. The basic application package is free but some fees are charged for larger amounts of your data to be stored on-line.

ShortFilmDepot.com - Another paperless festival application site. This one is free but it seems to have a smaller roster of festivals. In its favour it is more global, catering less for the USA.

Reelport.com - Yet another paperless application site. This one is also free, with the novel addition of having the facility to upload your film in digital format to their servers. Alternatively you can mail your film to them if you do not have a beefy enough connection. In this way you can apply to a fest without even having to send a preview copy! On the downside it seems to have few festivals on its books, mostly European, and the interface can seem a bit baffling. To me at least.

Useful links

This interweb thingy is jolly useful and while we've been making films we've found some excellent resources we'd like to share with you. Now don't crowd, don't crowd...

City Eye - community filmmakers and all-round good guys. Dave and Susan are as helpful and supportive as it is humanly possible. If you want to make films in the New Forest then this must be one of your first stops.

DV.com - resource for everything concerning shooting on DV.

The CanonXL2 Watchdog - I love the XL2, and it's served us well. If you want to know more about it, then this site has the answers.

IMDB.com - the Internet Movie Database. Great for settling those movie-based arguments like, "Did Jean Reno or Luc Besson star as Leon?". Where's my fiver, Nick?

Drew's Script-O-Rama - Free movie scripts to examine and study. See how it's done!

BBC Script Smart - there are plenty of screenwriting programs out there but if you just want to know how to format your script then look here!

MG Creative - A plug for Martin's graphic design business. Don't make him too busy, we need him for filming!
